I wanted to let everyone know about an LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification) study course that Robert Bennett thought up. Basically, starting August 16, we’re meeting at my house over the next 12 weeks to study for the LPIC-1 test. If you’re interested, come & join us (we already have 4)!

The details:

The plan is to go through the self study book for the LPIC-1 chapter by chapter. Here’a a link to the book (note that you can also buy it on Kindle, which is what I did):

(If you use this link instead, I get a small kickback from Amazon, a nice “thank you” for hosting the group: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0470404833/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0470404833&linkCode=as2&tag=scottgrannema-20)

We will meet one evening each week on Thursday, beginning this Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 7–9:00 p.m. for about twelve weeks and go through one chapter per week (for 12 weeks, one for each chapter plus two weeks review.)

It seems to me that each chapter stands on its own and does not necessarily built upon the prior chapter(s), so anyone is welcome to join us at any time for any session.

The goal is for each participant who so desires (I sure do!) to sucessfully pass the LPI 101 and 102 exams and earn the LPIC-1 designation. During the course of the class, we will identify testing opportunities so hopefully will have the test passed by Christmas.

If you can’t make it in person, we’re going to set up a Google Hangout so people can join us virtually. If you want the URL of the Google Hangout, email me.

Hope to see people there!
